Forever green

Some sort of interesting evergreen tree. Isn't it marvelous? Looks like dancing fingers. I just love looking at trees this closely. It makes me feel like I know a secret. I feel fairy-sized, like I can tiptoe up a branch if I wish. Click on the photos above for their full size. You'll see what I mean.

Beautiful!

Speaking of trees, I'm sure there's a term for the two types, but I don't know how to begin looking it up -

Some trees have branches that grow out and down, and others that have branches growing up and out.

The 'up and out' version seem a lot more uplifting!

It looks like Cryptomeria; does it look like rubber when you touch it?

The tree is many miles away in a botanical garden, so I cannot confirm a "rubbery touch," but researching Cryptomeria makes me think you are correct!
Thank you!

Yes! Of course - Cryptomeria - the leaves that grace the banner at Tree News. Almost looks like the same picture.

Great minds think alike?
